Twitter: 140 Characters to 280 characters work around

So while tweeting on my photography account on twitter, I noticed that it had the new 280 character limit, with excitement I checked my personal one bit sadly still 140 character limit.

Being the geeky type I thought I’ll have a poke around and come across a really simple work around that let’s you tweet with the 280 characters even if your account only let’s you use the 140 characters limit and this is without any code at all.

Here’s the simple steps:

1. Make sure you open send new tweet on your 280 character account.

2. Write your tweet

3. In the change who you send your tweet as part, select any other account you have that doesn’t have the new 280 character limit.

4. And now send your tweet… Simple

I have tested this the other way round, it it doesn’t work unfortunately as it sees the 280 character account as a 140 one (or something like that).

I tested this on an Android device (OnePlus 5 8GB 128GB version running Android 7.1.1 (normal Oneplus Stock ROM), so it will be interesting to see if anyone with a iOS device can do the same.

Update: A couple of people have let me know that this doesn’t work on iOS and gives the error of ‘Failed to send tweet’

#Crisisteamfail

While browsing twitter this hashtag cought my eye and I quickly joined in to share my experiences with the local crisis team. My local trust hasn’t got the best history (has been under investigation a few times), I had so much to say and quite a few people replied to them saying they were quite shocked by them.

A few of my examples included:

‘Have you got a boyfriend who could look after you? No, I’m a lesbian ‘Oh could that be making you depressed? #crisisteamfail

‘Have you tried going for a walk at all?’ Me: it’s 11pm, dark, rainy and I’m a lone female of course I haven’t tried that #crisisteamfail

‘If you were really sucidal you wouldn’t be calling us, would you?  #crisisteamfail

Scared of being alone with men, asked for females to visit, promised yes… Team sent a pair of men, promptly freak out #crisisteamfail

You can search for this on twitter and see everyone’s tweets on it and people seem to be saying the same thing, they’re not being listened to by the teams or advice being given feels to be useless. It shows that there should be change in the services. Hopefully trusts take note and involve service users more on what they’re needs are and also what works for them when in crisis.

There was also a #crisisteamwishlist where people were talking about how they wish to be treated or services offered, most common theme was to be listened to.
BUT

Let’s remember there are some great workers out there, who do help, do treat you as a person and not as a case, do listen and at times do go out of their way.

This is badly writton, and when I have more time I will add to it.

A win for the week

I never thought anything I wrote would be published or rank highly on websites I’ve submitted to but this week was a surprise. One of tweets (yes I know it’s only a tweet) was published in Diva (a lesbian magazine in the uk) and one of my reddit posts is the top 3 in the LGBT section (so if your on reddit feel free to up vote it to get it number one)
